About AINST

Energy is the basic requirement for the development and advancement of human civilization. At present bulk of the energy need is being met by fossil fuels which have their associated environmental problems. These problems are becoming serious due to ever-increasing use of the fossil fuels which are not likely to last too long. It obviously necessitates the search for alternative sources of energy for sustainable development.

Nuclear energy offers a viable alternative. As early as 1950s, nuclear power has been available in the form of electricity in several countries. At present over four hundred nuclear power reactors have been operating all over the world. In fact, France generates more than 70% of its total requirement of electrical power through nuclear power plants. Japan has more or less a similar programme. With the success of Fast Breeder Reactors as nuclear power plants we have almost an inexhaustible source of energy from the use of Uranium and Thorium. The latter one in India in particular, because of its large deposits, deserves more attention. Nuclear energy is economical, safe and independent of uncertainties of climate and environment and is a clean source of energy.

With the signing of Indo-US nuclear deal the expansion of nuclear power programme in India is obvious. Such a programme will need large trained manpower in the area of Nuclear Science & Technology. This makes our B.Tech. & M.Tech. programs in Nuclear Science & Technology very useful and attractive to the young engineering students. We are witnessing a successful career of our Alumni in industry and hope for better times in near future.

Amity Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology functioning under the Aegis of the world renowned Amity University was put in place in 2009 with the vision to fulfil the demand of nuclear engineers for this budding sector. Since the inception we have been imparting undergraduate, post graduate, dual degree and doctoral programs in the area of Nuclear Science & Technology. We have bench marked our course with the course at BARC training school to ensure our graduands are industry ready when they leave the campus. Students are eligible to appear for the training school entrance examination which is an orientation course for DAE organizations.  Specialized courses like nuclear physics, reactor physics, radio chemistry, nuclear fuels and waste management to name a few are delivered by faculty who have experience of more than 40 years in the industry. We have an amalgamation of young and expert faculty members from organization of repute like IITs, DAE and many Indian Universities. The faculty are from reputed DAE centres like BARC, IGCAR and NPCIL. They have rich experience of handling nuclear facilities and nuclear materials.

We have laboratories for radiation detection and radioisotope identification. For advanced laboratory exposure we send our students to laboratories/institutions of repute like Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) Delhi, TIFR, BARC, VECC and IGCAR to name some.

We have excellent collaboration with international universities and research laboratories like IAEA, Texas A & M, University of Saskatchewan, ITER and GSI for student internship and research. We have been organising workshops, seminars and training programs with international and national collaborators like TAMU, KCL, BARC and WINS. Our students are faring well in the industry. Every year students are getting enrolled for the training school and doctoral programs in India and Abroad.

We have our alumni placed in SDS Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd., Atkins, BARC, IGCAR, and many universities abroad for getting absorbed as scientific officers, quality assurance manager, or as doctoral candidates.

We have collaborations with:

  • Institute of Nuclear Materials Managements (INMM) : Students and Faculty members are presenting papers during INMM meetings and INMM Chapters since 2015.
  • International Nuclear Security Education Network (INSEN IAEA) : Institute is a member of INSEN, IAEA since 2015.
  • World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS) : Director & HOI of the Institute is WINS Ambassador of India.
  • Texas A&M University (TAMU) : We have a collaborations with Texas A&M University to setup a Nuclear Security Education Laboratory at Amity University Uttar Pradesh Noida.

Come and join us for a career full of challenges and a future full of opportunities.

Amity Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology, Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh is authorized by Radiological Physics & Advisory Division (RP&AD), Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) to conduct Radiation Safety Officer Certification Course on “Research, Radiotracer and Column Scanning Applications of Ionizing Radiation.
