Energy is the basic requirement for the development and advancement of human civilization. At present bulk of the energy need is being met by fossil fuel which has its associated environmental problems. These problems are becoming serious due to ever-increasing use of the fossil fuels which are not likely to last too long. It obviously necessitates the search for an alternative source of energy for sustainable development.
